Which gloves are best? Let’s find out! Brands tested: Ironclad, Mechanix, Carhartt, Amazon Basics, VGO, Endura, Milwaukee, Wells Lamont, and PVC dotted gloves. Gloves tested for puncture, abrasion resistance (wear), impact protection, cut resistance, and grip. I purchased all of the gloves tested and never accept sponsorships.

Ironclad is a surprisingly good buy for the money. Mechanix I figured would hold up a month or two maybe of regular light work at a retail place, nope, Ironclad lasted the month and then on to daily farm work and they still are holding together. The first pair had some finger hole wear issues that the second pair does not so I think that was a fluke, the only somewhat failure point so far has been the stitching on the thumb and mainly index finger and again that was present on the first pair, not this second pair I have now so it leads me to believe the first had simply been made on a monday morning which most of us can relate to. My model: Ironclad Boxhandler In summary, Ironclad: good for the money, surprisingly durable, good grip, comfortable and would buy again.

I stopped buying leather gloves and have switched to rubberized palm gloves from harbor freight.....$2/pr. they last longer than leather gloves when handling firewood and provide a good grip. when they eventually wear a hole.....they were only $2....break out another pair. I usually get a good month's use out of a pair......and they do get a lot of use in the woods.

Hey, I don't know if you have a Ross store close by they have some great gloves usually in the $3.99 - $10.99 range. Gas Monkey Garage, Mechcanix and some other brands I've never heard of that have plastic reinforcement plates etc. You should take a look. They have a small auto section and they have some automotive tools I'd love to see go through some testing. Let me know if you're interested. I'd be happy to grab an item for testing and mail it.

How about testing the pnut valves under the sink. Those damn things become impossible to turn without breaking, when they do turn, they rarely stop the water flow. Your test will be really hard to run because it takes a long time for the valve to age for failure... maybe gather old, used valves from a plumber buddy, i dunno.

Using welding gloves for weed pulling and dealing with spiky citrus trees is a lifesaver. The thorns on my lemon tree get to 2-inches long but the worst are the small, hard to notice ones that you squeeze not knowing they are there. They are obviously bulky and thick so I would limit their use but I recommend using them for situations like I described.

I love your channel, it may be one of the most useful channels on NOpost. Everything about this video is perfect. EXCEPT Why are you cramming that Metric shit down our throats? What the Hell is wrong with you? Many years ago Chrysler, Ford and General Motors took our beloved bolts and nuts away from us and every mechanic in America had to buy metric tools so that the European market wouldn't be inconvenienced. Before that they began to measure our engine displacement in liters instead of cubic inches. We said What the Hell is a freakin liter? So then they put our pop in 2 liter jugs and said that is what a liter looks like. Then they changed our tire sizes to metric. Back in the 70's Chevy trucks had the gas filler on the passenger side, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT? Well it was for people that drive on the other side of the road, of course. And now I come here and you are going to measure a dent in a stick in MILLIMETERS? What in the Hell is wrong with your brain? Especially at a time when China is doing all this crap. It is time for more AMERICAN PATRIOTISM!!! Not more foreign brainwashing. I would certainly like to hear your answer. The rest of you give me a thumbs up if you agree with me, if not then give me a thumbs down. Art

In the warmer part of season, I like to combine a UHMWPE inner glove with a good quality leather glove on the outside. In the cooler seasons, a kevlar inner glove and good quality leather glove on the outside works better. The leather provides puncture resistance, and the Kevlar and especially UHMWPE are very cut and abrasion resistant. What's nice about highly oriented UHMWPE material is that it is very thermally conductive--comparable to some metals! It really does help to keep things a bit cooler while wearing two layers. Kevlar is fairly low thermally conductive, and has an interesting property that when the fibers are exposed to water/moisture, they actually shrink a bit rather than swell up like a lot of other fibers. That's part of the reason why cotton is said to "kill" in the winter when it gets wet. When cotton gets wet, the fibers swell up and you lose the space between which was trapping the air and providing the huge majority of insulation (the stilled air). It also takes a long time to dry compared to most other materials. With kevlar, it might actually slightly increase the insulation in that regard (though the water itself would be conducting away heat energy anyways if wet enough).
